He is the youngest of the five children of his English parentage had never had before Jackman divorced when he was eight. Since the divorce , his mother moved to England and left all of the five children in Australia to be raised by his father accountant.

After completing his education at the University of Technology Sydney with a BA in Communications , having majored in journalism , Jackman joined "The Journey" , an annual program held at the Actors Centre in Sydney act. He later studied drama at the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts ( WAAPA ) , graduated in 1994 and immediately was offered a starring role in the ABC TV prison drama " Correlli " (1995).
