At age 15 , Marie Antoinette married the crown prince of France in order to strengthen ties of the French monarchy in Austria. In 1774, the crown prince of France became King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette became Queen of France.

Marie Antoinette was very independent and refused to follow court protocol . She resented the Parisians because of her foreign origin and extravagant lifestyle . Farmers thought that was arrogant and Marie became the target of vicious gossip and was accused of having sex with both men and women. Marie appointed his friends to positions of palace on the most qualified people. This led to accusations of corruption and illicit sexual behavior and was called the " Austrian Whore . " Masses started with Marie Antoinette as a scapegoat for their frustration with the monarchy.Unemployment and hunger were widespread among the peasants of France and Queen blamed for their problems. He had made up vicious stories about Marie Antoinette by ordinary Parisians. One story is that she asked him why farmers were angry and a person answered " Because they have no bread " that Marie Antoinette said " let them eat cake " Marie Antoinette never actually said those words, but the people who hated therefore, they were willing to believe.
In 1789 the French Revolution began . There were riots and mass assault on the palace began. Marie Antoinette became the target of the revolutionaries. After conspiring with his brother Leopold II of Austria for military aid in the fight against the revolutionaries , Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI and his sons Fleed Paris only to be captured by a Parisian and sent back to Paris under guard.
Marie Antoinette secretly negotiated with the monarchist factions and his brother, the Emperor Leopold II to save the monarchy. The news of his plotting and scheming angered the French and when Austria went to war with France in 1792 , the royal family were accused of treason , ending the monarchy. Louis was accused of treason , sentenced to death and executed in 1793.
The October 16, 1793 , Marie Antoinette was tried for treason. Palace servants who wanted to avenge his condition false testimony at trial. After only 1 hour, the jury sentenced her to death . The October 16, 1793 , Marie Antoinette was beheaded by the guillotine. Marie Antoinette was the only figure that triggered the anger of the French people in a complete revolution.
